Quick reminder: GetOut is looking to create a community of outdoorsy professionals and host activity based retreats. Basecamp at Sisters Cabin, you can see the trails at Breckenridge Resort to the left
GetOut’s first retreat is in the books and it was a blast! In early February we hosted a group in Colorado for a backcountry powder tour, where we used alpine touring gear to ski uphill and then back down. Feedback from the group was overwhelmingly positive and I think everyone got what they came for, a fun adventure with a great crew of like-minded professionals. This group melded quickly and easily, drawn by a shared adventure, a love for skiing, and the desire to venture into the backcountry to learn and enjoy fresh powder turns.
Headed uphill…
To enjoy the way back down
Quick recap of this 2.5 day backcountry adventure:
-We ascended a 3.8 mile trail covering 1200 ft of vertical on touring skis with full packs of food and supplies to our backcountry “hut”
-Our basecamp was a modern backcountry cabin at 11,500 ft altitude with amazing views
-From our basecamp we continued up another 600ft where we skied open bowls and untouched glades for the next day and a half
-The guides monitored snow and avalanche conditions to keep safe and get us on the best snow and terrain possible
-It was a ton of work with lots of laughs and fun discussion along the way (when we could breathe)

The Nolichucky River in Eastern Tennessee, in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains
New retreat just announced, taking applications now! This spring, GetOut is headed out fly fishing on our Smoky Mountain Smallmouth retreat.
May 19-21st, we are headed to Eastern Tennessee to fly fish for smallmouth bass. With close proximity to both Knoxville and Asheville airports, this area is easily accessible. It’s also an anglers paradise with miles upon miles of fishable water and amazing scenery in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains. For anglers that usually head to the western US to fish and mainly focus on trout, this retreat is a great excuse to check out a new area and new species with a great group. GetOut will be partnering with Asheville Fly Fishing Co. whose guides are experts on these rivers.
This trip will offer:
-Two days of fully guided fly fishing from drift boats, 2 anglers per boat
-Fully setup private campsite on the banks of the Nolichucky River, with a bathroom and hot shower on site
-Food will be prepared by a private chef who specializes in North Carolina BBQ
For full trip details along with an itinerary click here or head to the website to learn more or apply now. We would truly appreciate your help in spreading the word to any fly fishing fanatics in your life.
